Qikiqtaaluk Corporation (QC), Iqaluit, Nunavut
QC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA). It is an Inuit Birthright Corporation and the development arm of the QIA, with over 40 years in business in Nunavut. QC’s mission is to create meaningful economic development and
attractive employment and career development opportunities for Inuit. QC owns one of the seventeen Northern Shrimp licences and holds a 50% interest in the Unaaq licence. QC is a majority partner in Qikiqtaaluk Fisheries Corporation (QFC), a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of QC. It owns and operates F.V. Saputi, a 76-meter multi-species factory freezer trawler that harvests the corporation’s Northern Shrimp quotas and their allocations of both Shrimp and Greenland Halibut received from the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board.
QC is an integrated and diversified company with ownership and management of business operations in Offshore Fisheries, Marine and Air Transportation, Real Estate, Construction, Petroleum Distribution, Environmental Management and Retailing. The company also delivers Inuit Human Resources Employment Services. QC’s 34 subsidiaries, joint ventures and affiliations employ approximately 1000 people, over 70% of whom are Inuit. QC’s business and infrastructure investments support 16,000 Inuit residents living in the 13 communities of Nunavut’s Qikiqtani Region.
